Central California Labrador Retriever Club
Why a new club?
A group of labrador enthusiasts started talking about getting together for hunt test training
days and to practice showing our dogs. The more we talked, the more we realized that what
we wanted was a local club. The lab clubs closest to us, were just a little to far for our regular
participation. We contacted AKC and LRC our parent club for information and we were off.
What is our "local" area?
We consider our local area from Merced county in the north to Kern county in the south. Our
club meetings will be held in the greater Fresno area.
Where are we in the process?
We have currently been approved by AKC to hold AKC sanctioned B Matches. We have held
the required number of B matches and are preparing the request to AKC to advance to A
match status. If approved, we will hold our first AKC sanctioned A Match this September. We
held our first Working Certificate in April 2007 and are holding our second this April.
What are we doing for our canine friends?
The club has supported efforts to oppose AB1634, the mandatory spay or neuter law currently
under consideration by the State Of California. The club is also contributing a share of the
annual revenue to a canine related non-profit, like rescues or health research efforts.
